Crane and site team carrying out a lifting operation

Lifting

Lifting operations, handled from plan to paperwork

One contact for the whole operation: the plan, the accessories, the roles, the briefing on the day and the records afterwards.

A lifting operation is any operation concerned with lifting or lowering a load, and LOLER requires each one to be properly planned by a competent person, appropriately supervised and carried out safely. KVK supports the whole chain — planning, equipment and accessory selection, roles and briefing, coordination with your crane provider, and the LOLER records behind it.

What this includes

Planning and method

Lift plans for routine and complex operations, including excavator object handling and crane lifts.

Equipment and accessories

Suitable accessory selection, duty checks and confirmation that what you plan to use is fit and examined.

Roles and briefing

Appointed Person, supervisor, slinger/signaller and operator responsibilities set out and briefed to the crew.

Provider coordination

Support with crane selection, siting, ground bearing considerations and interfaces with the crane hire company.

One operation, not four separate problems

Lifting goes wrong at the joins: the plan says one accessory and the yard sends another, the crane hirer assumes the site has checked the ground, nobody has briefed the slinger. Splitting the work between suppliers makes those joins worse.

We take the whole operation as one piece of work — plan, kit, roles, briefing, records — so the interfaces are somebody's job.

Where our remit ends

Thorough examination services are still being set up, and some lifts need Appointed Person experience beyond what we hold. In both cases we will tell you before the job and help you get the right person.

Training for lifting roles is arranged through carefully selected approved training providers, so you can build the competence in-house over time.
