The Appointed Person plans the lifting operation and carries responsibility for that plan: load and site assessment, equipment and accessory selection, method and sequence, role allocation and supervision arrangements. KVK provides AP input on planning and briefings where appropriately competent for the lift, and says so plainly where a lift needs a specialist we do not cover.

Where the role usually goes wrong
The common failure is not a bad plan — it is nobody being clearly in charge. Roles blur, the slinger assumes the supervisor has checked something, and the plan on paper does not match what happens at the pick.
We keep the roles explicit and briefed. If your team is stretched too thin to cover them properly, we will say that too.
